Courage to Edit

You make a choice, give your word, profess allegiance to a belief or a person. Yet events unfold that morph and rattle you.

Integrity is then at stake.

Loyalty is questioned.

Is it not a moral obligation to remain fixed even as you change? Even as your spirit is revealed? Or is that old version of you, the very guard keeping you a prisoner? Preventing you from your next iteration.

Can two things be true and in tandem? That you meant what you said and now you must redirect. Not on a whim. Recognizing the cost and weighing all options. Without careful consideration, you could be compromising your soul. You could mistake a temptation for direction. Yet equal meditation is required to discern the truth. The change could shift the order with which you live. Destabilization and re-ordering because you are wise enough and have lived long enough to withstand the earthquake. Your capacity to see through the stories you wrote to create an identity.

To to survive in this world.

To make sense out of the incomprehensible.

Not only do they no longer serve you, they confine and eat you. A theme emerges. Over and over, lesson after lesson. The universe tries to show you that nothing is as it seems through the human lens alone. You think you found your passion, your life‘s work and all it takes is a noun a person a place or something grand or like a cataclysmic event to show you there is always more.

Each life is an opportunity to respect the unknown and rise to the occasions. Underneath all of that is unconditional love and connection.

Have courage that your pursuit of truth cannot be confounded with guilt. You demonstrate respect when you no longer shield the truth from yourself or others.
