Tea for Two
You knew I’d like some but I wouldn’t say.
“Don’t bother” “I’m fine” but you brought it anyway.
Your maternal senses overrode my persistent excuses.
Instead, you met them with polite refuses.
You brought out every selection for me to peruse.
Then scolded me for sitting on the floor when there were cushions to use.
You carried it over, right over to my seat.
You saw my jacket and adjusted the heat.
You said later you would put everything away.
A gift for me to get lost in the pending items of the day.
Any troubles, you erased with your kindness and care.
You are someone with a bucket-full, extra energy to share.
I barely knew you yet you could so clearly know me.
A role-model for how to divinely see.
